Rudder for Safari · Last updated October 12, 2026
Rudder collects no data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking and no advertising. Rudder makes no network requests of its own, so nothing about you or your browsing is ever transmitted, received or stored outside your Mac.
Rudder requests access to youtube.com and no other website. It uses that access only to read the state of the video you are watching — whether it is playing, its position, volume, speed, title, channel and thumbnail — so the popup can display it and send your commands back to the player.
This information is read on demand, used to draw the popup, and discarded. It is never written to a server, a log or a file.
Rudder stores your extension preferences locally using Safari's extension storage. This data stays on your Mac, is not readable by any website, and is removed when you uninstall the extension.
Rudder includes no third-party SDKs, analytics libraries or advertising frameworks. No data is shared with anyone, because none is collected.
Rudder is an independent extension and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google. Your use of YouTube itself remains governed by Google's own privacy policy.
Rudder is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date above.
